The Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology, Cardiotechnology

The CardioTech Research Group at Aalborg University’s Department of Health Science and Technology is seeking a Research Assistant to support our ongoing projects in cardiovascular sensing, digital health, and AI-based diagnostics.
The position will commence on November 1, 2025 and is offered as a one-year employment.

At Department of Health Science and Technology we conduct research, teaching and innovation within e.g. medicine, biomedicine, biomedical engineering, health technologies, robotics, neuroscience, sports science, public health and physiotherapy. We educate bachelors and masters of science within biomedical engineering, medicine, medicine with industrial specialisation, sports science, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, public health, and clinical health and technology. In addition to the graduate programmes, we are specialized in postgraduates’ studies within pain science and within digital health. Our graduates contribute to setting the agenda for future needs and contribute to solutions for increased public health and implementation of new health knowledge and technologies.
Currently, our department has approximately 280 employees, 100 Ph.D.-students enrolled in the Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology, and 1500 students in our bachelors and masters programmes. About the position

You will contribute to the development and validation of novel cardiovascular sensor technologies and support the integration of these systems with advanced cloud infrastructures and mobile applications for large-scale data collection and patient interaction. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of biomedical engineering, app development, and health data science in a leading international research environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Development and testing of cardiovascular sensor prototypes (e.g., seismocardiography, photoplethysmography, ECG etc.)
  • Implementation of signal processing algorithms for physiological data
  • Development of mobile applications for sensor integration and patient use
  • Support in setting up cloud-based infrastructures for secure data collection and storage
  • Collaboration with clinicians, engineers, and data scientists on clinical and technical studies
  • Contribution to scientific publications, technical documentation, and research reports

Qualifications

  • MSc degree (or equivalent) in Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong skills in cloud computing (Azure)
  • Experience with mobile app development (Android)
  • Experience with cardiovascual sensor technologies 
  • Programming experience 
  • Interest in applied research and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Good communication skills in English (written and spoken)

Qualification requirements 
Appointment as a research assistant requires academic qualifications at master's degree level.
