At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology, one position as Associate Professor in statistival and complex trait genetics is open for appointment from October, 1 2025 or soon hereafter.
At Department of Health Science and Technology we conduct research, teaching and innovation within e.g. medicine, biomedicine, biomedical engineering, health technologies, robotics, neuroscience, sports science, public health and physiotherapy. We educate bachelors and masters of science within biomedical engineering, medicine, medicine with industrial specialisation, sports science, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, public health, and clinical health and technology. The primary responsibility of the position involves research in statistical and complex trait genetics, as well as teaching and supervising projects at the Bachelor and Master's degree programs in Medicine and Medicine with Industrial Specialization. The candidate should possess a strong theoretical understanding of statistical and quantitative genetics, and have profound abilities to conduct large-scale genetic studies (including performing genome-wide association studies, post hoc enrichment analyses, estimating polygenic score, and a like). Furhter, the candidate should have an internationally recognized track record of publications in the field of quantitative and statistical genetics, personalized medicine, and data science techniques for integrating omics data, and be able to secure national and international research funding. Finally, the candidate should also have extensive experience in teaching and supervising students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The successful candidate should have a PhD degree within genetics or bioinformatics, and the research area must fall within the area of statistical and complex trait genetics. The candidate should have articulated visions and plans for future research and be able to teach courses in both monogenic and multifactorial genetics and be able to supervise bachelor, master and PhD students. It will be considered an advantage, if the applicant have experience with problem-based learning in alignment with Aalborg University's pedagogical model.

Assessment
The assessment of applicants for the position will be carried out by an assessment committee.
Shortlisting will be applied. This means that the head of the department, with the assistance of the hiring committee, will select candidates for assessment. Candidates selected for assessment will then be informed about the composition of the assessment committee. All candidates will be notified whether they have been shortlisted for assessment or not.
