At Aalborg University Business School, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, a position as professor in Management Accounting is available from August 1, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applicants must be able to document original scientific production at an international level within management accounting and with relations to operations and management/leadership more generally.
The theoretical and thematic focus, of the applicant, could be Management Control Systems, the roles and effects of the Finance function, Management Accounting & Performance management in contemporary operations environments, human behaviour and reactions in relation to management accounting, etc. ex ante the applicant is welcome to indicate a pipeline that is related to similar topics but also in a broader range.
Applicants should also demonstrate intellectual and research leadership by proving their ability to engage with other researchers and to guide junior faculty in their career planning. As Full professor, one is expected to contribute to the achievement of the departments overall strategy and to act out intellectual leadership by taking on the role of research group leader if needed.
The position as professor is a permanent position with obligation to research, teaching and publication/academic dissemination.
Qualification requirements
Applicants for a professorship are required to provide documentation of a substantial amount of original scientific production at international level, and documentation of significant contribution to the development of the research area in question. It is equally important that applicants are able to undertake research management or other kinds of management, pedagogical counselling and supervision as well as academic assessment tasks.
High-quality teaching at all levels is necessary to obtain the position of Full Professor. Teaching is in Danish. This should be reflected in superior teaching evaluations. Also, establishing relationships with the business community is of high importance in supporting the profile of the department and hence candidates are expected to contribute to knowledge exchange.

Assessment
The assessment of applicants for the position will be carried out by an assessment committee.
Shortlisting will be applied. This means that the head of the department, with the assistance of the hiring committee, will select candidates for assessment. Candidates selected for assessment will then be informed about the composition of the assessment committee. All candidates will be notified whether they have been shortlisted for assessment or not.
Applicants who are selected for assessment will have the opportunity to comment on their assessment.
When the hiring process is completed, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.
