Join an expanding research environment at Aalborg University Business School, where curiosity, collaboration, and strong academic ambitions shape our work. We are seeking dedicated scholars to help advance strategy research within the Strategy, Organization, and Management (SOM) Group at Aalborg University Business School. The positions are full-time, fixed-term assistant professorships for a period of four years, with employment starting on 1 June 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Your work tasks
As an assistant professor in strategy, you will conduct independent, quantitatively oriented research that contributes to the strategic research agenda of the Strategy, Organization, and Management Group and aims for publication in leading international journals. You will be involved in developing and delivering teaching primarily in strategy at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels, including topics such as competitive and corporate strategy, strategic analysis, and related areas. You will also contribute to teaching applied quantitative methods where this aligns with the curriculum and your research profile. The position includes supervision of project groups and individual students, participation in research collaborations within the group, and active engagement in the academic community at the business school. You will further contribute to the development of new research ideas and grant applications. As part of the appointment, you are expected to complete the university’s pedagogical training programme for assistant professors.
Your competencies
We are looking for a colleague with a strong interest in strategy research and a clear ambition to contribute to international academic debates through rigorous, quantitative work. You should have completed, or be close to completing, a PhD in a field relevant to strategy and be able to demonstrate the potential for developing an independent research profile. We value candidates who are curious, reflective, and open to collaboration, and who enjoy contributing to a collegial research environment. Experience with teaching strategy at university level is an advantage, as is familiarity with applied quantitative methods, but we welcome applicants at different stages of their pedagogical development. We appreciate a constructive and engaged approach to teaching, supervision, and interaction with students, and we look for someone who is motivated to contribute positively to both the research and teaching communities at the business school.
Qualification requirements
Appointment as assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
