At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Materials and Production, section of Physics and Mechanics, a position as Postdoc in rheology and modelling of gels and tissues is open for appointment from July 1st 2026, or soon thereafter. The position is for a period of 2 years.
Aalborg University is among the best global universities for Engineering. In the US News global ranking 2024, we are in the top 20 alongside MIT, ETH, and Stanford. AAU Materials and Production is a dynamic engineering research department with a broad focus from sustainable production to astrophysics. The Department has a very international environment, and English or Danish will be the working language. Aalborg, located in North Denmark, has been recognized as the happiest city in Europe based on the quality of life and satisfaction of its residents. https://www.enjoynordjylland.com/
Your work tasks
The position is offered in relation to the EU-funded research program "STRONG UR, Strategies for optimized bioprinting of next generation tissues for urethral regeneration and translation.” At the core of STRONG-UR’s innovation lies dynamic hydrogel-based biomaterials. These hydrogels provide unparalleled control over the mechanical and biological properties of tissue constructs. This biomaterial combined with living cells forms bioinks which are transformed into intricate biological structures using advanced 3D techniques. https://www.strong-ur.eu/
Research areas for the postdoc will be within experimental characterization of gels and tissues, understanding, and modelling their behavior. We have state-of-the-art laboratories for testing: Oscillatory and capillary rheometers, Orthogonal rheometry (OSP), Dynamic mechanical analysis, micro/nano dynamic indenter, and AFM as well as a range of other instruments.
